Wreath making

We have been making wreaths this week in the forest and also at nursery as part of our outdoor learning sessions.  The preschool children were so proud of the wreath they made at forest school that they decided to hang it on the front door for all the parents to see!  Afterwards they helped to toast some apple on the fire for their snack.  Here are a few photos:

New outdoor learning sessions

Following on from the success of our preschool forest school courses, we launched our outdoor learning programme for our nursery children at the beginning of September.  Janine, one of our early years teachers, is now leading outdoor learning sessions for small groups of children every afternoon between 1-3pm and it has been lovely to see the different learning opportunities this has presented.  So far we have seen mud painting, sunflower seed tweezering, painting with flowers, making collages with leaves, mud kitchen play and creating and building with natural coloured playdough and natural resources.  The benefits of children learning outdoors has long been proven – (click here to read more) and we hope our children will benefit in the same way from this new initiative.  Here are a few photos:

August fun

We had a fantastic fun month, with lots of visitors to the nursery and specially organised events for the children to enjoy.  Zoolab came and introduced us to lots of insects and other creepy crawlies, we got to sit inside a real fire engine and use a real fireman’s hose, we held our very own festival and had a day of face painting and a day of body painting too!  We loved having our brothers and sisters come into nursery and play with us and even invited our grandparents in for afternoon tea.  The children had a go at a Zumba class and took part in an interactive story session all about a teddy bears picnic when Pyjama Drama came to visit us.  We loved the bouncy castle and washing all the teachers cars and even had a day in our preschool dedicated to chocolate! Here are just a few photos:

Let’s Party!

We had amazing weather earlier this month for our preschool leavers’ party and we spent the whole afternoon in our garden playing pass the parcel, musical bumps, musical statutes and parachute games.  Debutots came and led a really interesting interactive story session all about starting school.  All the children were mesmerised for the whole time, which was lovely to see.  We had great fun posing for photos in our pop-up photo booth and then finished the party with a picnic.  Here are a few photos of what we got up to:
