At Mulberry Corner we have a healthy eating policy. Staff are encouraged to eat their lunch with the children and to promote our healthy eating policy in their own lunch choices. All meal times at nursery are a social event. Groups are kept small to enable the staff to interact with the children and to encourage good manners at the table.
Parents can decide if they wish to send their child to nursery with a packed lunch or opt for nursery lunches. Our nursery lunches are provided by a specialist catering company called Hungry Monsters and have proven to be a real hit with the children and parents alike. An extra charge of £3.50 per meal is made for this service. Hungry Monsters prepare freshly made, nutritionally balanced meals on a daily basis. Menus are available at the nursery for parents to view at the start of each week. Hungry Monsters is able to cater for all medical, religious and cultural dietary requirements.
Parents have the same choice at tea time as above and can send in a packed tea or opt for nursery tea. We also offer a lighter option for those children who will be eating dinner with their parents when they return home. The small afternoon tea option typically consists of fruit, cheese and crackers or scones. An extra charge of £3 is made for nursery tea.
If a child opts for both nursery lunch and tea, a reduced rate of £5.50 applies.
For children’s snack time, a selection of fruit is always on offer together with other healthy options such as crackers, differents breads, cheese and cereal bars. There is also a choice of milk or water to drink. Our snack bars are open throughout the morning and afternoon and the children are able to come to the snack bar when they wish. We monitor the snack bar to ensure that every child has a drink and something to eat during their session.
